We start our private organic farming and gastronomy tour with our professional licensed guide explaining our island’s rich culture, customs, ethics, and traditions. We proceed our tour and we visit an abandoned olive oil mill, where all the information about agriculture and livestock comes alive, as our professional guide will explain the traditional methods of agriculture and horticulture that are found in Crete.
A stop at a picturesque village of mainland Chania will allow us to learn about the traditional way of life of Cretans, as we are mesmerized by the neighbouring freshwater river that surrounds this village. A pause for a small coffee break or snack will give us the strength needed for our visit to our private organic farm and shepherd’s hut for our genuine Cretan farming, Cretan Gastronomy Food Making- Tasting and shepherd experience.
We continue our tour, getting to a secluded and original sheep and goats farm owned by a local shepherd. The Cretan shepherd will welcome us warmly and explain to us the traditional way of life on the Cretan Mountains.Â
Our Chania Traditional Farm and Shepherd and Cretan Food tour starts with a full tour on a Cretan Farm. We proceed to learn the various types of livestock to be found on a traditional farm: From ducks and geese to rabbits, goats, sheep, roosters, hens, turkeys and of course sheep dogs!
